A warm welcome to St Peter’s Anglican Church Château-d’Œx — whether you’ve worshipped here for years, you’re visiting for a few days, or you’ve never set foot in an Anglican church before.

The essentials

Our Sunday service is at 5:30 PM, in English, and lasts about an hour. We meet at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Grande Rue 49, 1660 Château-d’Œx. We celebrate Holy Communion on the second Sunday of every month, and if you can’t join us in person, you can watch live on YouTube.

What happens

Our Sunday service blends Anglican tradition with contemporary expression. You’ll find familiar hymns, modern worship songs, scripture readings, a thoughtful sermon, and time for prayer. The atmosphere is reverent without being formal — the kind of service where you can think, sing, sit quietly, or speak with God in your own way.

The sermon usually runs 15–20 minutes and is preached by our rector, Revd. Mark Fletcher, or by a visiting preacher. Recent sermons are available in our sermon library and on our YouTube channel.

What to expect — and what not to worry about

Come as you are. There’s no dress code. You’ll see jackets, jeans, jumpers, and most things in between.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing. The words you need — hymns, responses, prayers, and when to stand or sit — are projected on screens at the front of the church. Join in if you’d like, or simply listen along.

You don’t need to be a member. Visitors are very welcome and we never single anyone out. If you’d like a quiet visit, that’s perfectly fine. If you’d like someone to chat with afterwards, even better.

You don’t need to be Anglican. Many in our congregation come from other denominational backgrounds — Reformed, Catholic, Free Church, evangelical, ecumenical, or still finding their way. Visitors from outside Switzerland are a normal part of our Sunday evening.

Holy Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion on the second Sunday of each month. All baptised Christians of any denomination are warmly welcome to receive Communion with us.

If you would prefer not to receive — or aren’t sure — you are equally welcome to come forward for a blessing instead. Simply cross your arms over your chest as you reach the rail, and the priest will bless you.

Children and families

Children of all ages are welcome at our Sunday service.

We don’t run a formal Sunday School at present, but families are encouraged to come as a family. If your child becomes restless during the sermon, you are very welcome to step out for a few minutes — we’d much rather you stay than feel you had to leave.

Getting here

By car. St Peter’s sits just off Grande Rue in the heart of Château-d’Œx. On-street parking is generally available in the village on Sunday evenings.

After the service

We share refreshments and conversation in the church after every service. This is one of the real joys of St Peter’s — visitors and regulars alike, often from very different countries and backgrounds, sitting together over a cup of tea. Please stay if you can. We’d love to meet you.
